Isn't that a great quote? I'd die for that quote--wait, I nearly did die!! I have other books (see below), but this is the fun action-adventure series.
It all started as a project for my son, that morphed in to a book that was taken up in Seattle, and 15,000 copies were eventually read by local schools. That got me an agent, but no book deal. Taking the advice of said agent, I wrote yet another book, a 'pre-quel.' Through good fortune and a good friend, this book got in the hands of Lucas. At 8 pm, one dull Sunday evening, he told me that the book was written like f****ing crap, but it had some merit in the form plot, characters and face-paced action adventure. In short, nice try but it's a do-over. A year after this fateful call, (which was long enough for me to pick my self-esteem off the floor and 'brush it off' as my daughter says), I wrote a 5 book outline and wrote an entirely new book called Chambers. It's this book Lucas liked enough to support and ultimately option. The experience confirmed my belief that good fortune is one thing. It needs to be backed up by perserverance and hard work, for it was five years after I wrote the original book.
